Boise, ID - The Idaho Republican Party strongly condemns the recent acts of vandalism against signs that urge voters to reject Proposition 1, the Ranked Choice Voting initiative. More than a dozen signs have been damaged, defaced, and destroyed in the Meridian and Eagle areas, including several that have had swastikas drawn on them. Not only are these actions illegal, they undermine the democratic process that allows voters to hear from all sides and then make informed decisions at the polls.

“I’m dismayed to see this happen in Idaho,” said GOP Chairwoman Dorothy Moon. “These signs were placed by individual citizens who wanted to warn their communities about the dangers of Ranked Choice Voting, so to see them defaced like this is an outrage.”

In addition to calling on local law enforcement to investigate these incidents and hold the perpetrators responsible, the Idaho GOP is offering a $5,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in these heinous acts.

“It absolutely disgusts me to see swastikas drawn on our signs,” Moon added. “This is an outright hate crime against every Republican in the state of Idaho. I hope the backers of Prop 1, including Luke Mayville and Reclaim Idaho, are willing to condemn these acts of vandalism.”

Both the Idaho Republican Party and the Republican National Committee have denounced Ranked Choice Voting as a complex and confusing system that undermines the traditional American principle of “one person, one vote.” Proposition 1, misleadingly labeled the “open primaries” initiative, is a bad idea for Idaho.

The Idaho GOP encourages its supporters to remain vigilant, report any suspicious activity to the authorities, and continue to engage in the political process respectfully and lawfully.
