Dear ICA LA Community, 

2022 has been an exciting year at ICA LA! We’ve presented exceptional exhibitions and hosted opportunities to gather and learn through wide-ranging public programs that welcomed communities from across Los Angeles. As a non-collecting institution and the only museum located in the burgeoning Arts District, ICA LA has a singular role within the landscape of cultural organizations across Los Angeles. We are grateful to all who believe in our mission to spark the pleasure of discovery and challenge the way we see and experience the world, ourselves, and each other through art and ideas, fostering critique of the familiar and empathy with the different. Thank you for your partnership, enthusiasm, and continued support!??? 

Because of supporters like you, over this past year, ICA LA has:?? 

-Presented the first museum survey of Houston-based multidisciplinary Jamal Cyrus –

-Hosted the first exhibition in Los Angeles by New York-based Canadian artist Sara Cwynar

-Produced the 14th iteration of our legendary benefit art sale INCOGNITO 

-Welcomed guest curators Legacy Russell and Marcelle Joseph to present The Condition of Being Addressable, featuring 25 artists exploring bodies in exposure and the ever-evolving performance of language 

-Commissioned a new large-scale outdoor mural by Argentinean artist Ad Minoliti 

-Presented a 21-year survey of Los Angeles-based painter Rebecca Morris 

-Celebrated the homecoming of My Barbarian with a 20-year survey 

-Received the largest grant in the museum’s history from the Perenchio Foundation 

-Produced 42 public programs—both in-person and online—including artist point-of-view exhibition tours; discussions with artists, curators, and art historians; and poetry readings 

-Hosted numerous special events and performances including the West Coast premiere of Barnett Cohen’s MOUTHBRAIN, My Barbarian’s Broke People’s Baroque Peoples’ Theatre, a performance by the Pan Afrikan Peoples Arkestra, and our annual Posada Holiday Family Festival 

-Commenced new bookshelf residencies with publisher and bookmaking workshop Little Steidl and bookshop and creative space Reparations Club 

-Completed a year-long strategic planning process that included the participation of all staff and board members, which provides a road map to accomplish many ambitious goals in the coming years
