From: Institute Of Contemporary Art MuseumDear ICA LA Community,
This week's newsletter is dedicated to the incredible range of programs at ICA LA during the month of April!
We kick things off tonight at 7pm with a lecture by Rachel Garfield, the last in the Structures of Dissonance: Aesthetics Beyond Capital? series presented with CalArts School of Critical Studies. The learning continues tomorrow, Saturday, April 8, with our monthly, free introduction to ASL courses held in partnership with the Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness (GLAD) and on Tuesday, April 11 with ArtSmart’s Free Tax Webinar.
On Wednesday, April 26, gather for an album release and listening party to celebrate the official launch of a never-before released album featuring Milford Graves, Arthur Doyle, and Hugh Glover. The evening will be hosted by Peter Kolovos (founder of Black Editions recording label) who will be joined by Graves’ fellow musician Hugh Glover, as well as Graves’ granddaughter Tatiana Graves-Kochuthara and filmmaker and director Jake Meginsky (who will also be with us on Thursday, April 27 for the screening of Milford Graves: Full Mantis). Can’t make it to the launch? You can listen to this unreleased album (and more) here at ICA LA as part of the Milford Graves: Fundamental Frequency exhibition.
Don’t miss out on these opportunities to gather, learn, and transform together and to dive deeper into our spring exhibitions in their final 6 weeks! As always, exhibitions and public programs at ICA LA are FREE and open to all.
You can also further support ICA LA and our dynamic program and community of artists by joining us for ICA LA’s annual Spring Benefit on Saturday, April 22 at Mary Weatherford’s studio, featuring a special performance by comedian, writer, and musician Morgan Bassichis and music by DJ Huneycut! For more information and to purchase tickets, visit our website here.
We hope to see you soon,
Team ICA LA
