From: Institute Of Contemporary Art MuseumDear ICA LA Community,
It is with heavy hearts that we share the sad news about the passing of beloved artist, teacher, and activist Yong Soon Min. A longtime friend of ICA LA, Min held a seat on our Artist Advisory Council for over a decade and participated in vital conversations that helped to shape our institution, including the crafting of our mission statement. We honor Min’s legacy and meaningful mentorship through her inclusion in the current Scratching at the Moon exhibition where her work is featured alongside a community of artists who were touched and affected by her indelible influence. Please join us in celebrating Yong Soon Min’s life and practice by spending time with the works on view.
We also want to take this opportunity to share the news that Scratching at the Moon and Bookshelf Residency: Ooga Booga, will now be extended through Sunday, July 28, allowing even more time to be with the show, the shop, and their related programming.
Mark your calendars for the exciting programs that we have in store in the month of March. Next Wednesday, March 20, ICA LA welcomes Mahjong Mistress to share the history of this centuries old game and teach visitors how to play (no experience needed). Programs continue Thursday, March 28 with the Contemporary Arts League monthly meeting, followed by Art Buzz on Friday, March 29 featuring a Scratching at the Moon exhibition tour with Curatorial Associate Caroline Ellen Liou. Please note that due to scheduling conflicts, our monthly Intro to ASL class previously scheduled for March 30 is now cancelled. The next class will be on Saturday, April 27.
