From: Institute Of Contemporary Art MuseumIn need of some weekend plans? Join us tomorrow, Saturday, May 18, for The Moon Scratches My Heart, a new performance by Simon Leung and Na Mira, two of the artists in the Scratching at the Moon exhibition. Featuring Leung and special guests, the performance will reflect on artist Theresa Hak Kyung Cha, pop musician and movie star Leslie Cheung, and curator and art historian Karin Higa. Get here early to spend time with Scratching at the Moon before finding your seats. The following week, on Saturday, May 25, we have the last free ASL class of the season with Shmuel Khorsandi, a great chance to learn the ASL fundamentals!
Don’t miss ICA LA’s Spring Benefit on Saturday, June 1 hosted at the joint studio of critically acclaimed abstract painter Yunhee Min and award-winning TOLO Architecture. Get ready for a night of incredible art, delicious food, and fun music, all in support of ICA LA’s program and commitment to being a place of gathering, learning, and transformation for all. Not only that, but the benefit also marks the launch of a new edition by artist, teacher, and ICA LA Board Member Todd Gray. Find more details about the festivities and how to secure your ticket at the link below!
For this newsletter, we also thought it would be fun to look back and highlight some past public programs, including a panel discussion with Scratching at the Moon artists and catalogue contributors, an evening of reflection on the work of celebrated abstract painter Miyoko Ito, and an exhibition POV tour with writer Sarah Wang. We also included a walkthrough with ICA LA Senior Curator Amanda Sroka of our 2023 exhibition Tr??ng Công Tùng, a version of which is currently on view at Canal Projects in New York. Whether in person or online, there is always plenty at ICA LA for you to explore.
