Working with the exhibition as inspiration and a variety of materials, this workshop will cover different formats, layouts, and subject matter to explore how zines are a vehicle for independent publishing.
Veterans Artist Residency Program + AIR Deadline
We are proud to welcome the 2023-2024 Kala Veterans Residency artists - Emilio Gallegos, John Yoyogi Fortes, Phil Jones and Amber Zora!
The Veterans AIR Program is generously supported by the California Arts Council (Impact Projects) and the National Endowment for the Arts (Fellowship Program). The Veterans artist residency program includes a stipend, a studio residency, housing for artists outside of the Bay Area, a Kala class to provide training in printmaking and/or digital media, access to Kala’s creative community and a network of approximately 75 artists working at Kala each month, participation in Kala events, and support of Kala staff.
Are you interested in becoming an Artist-in-Residence (AIR) at Kala?
Apply in Slideroom by January 15th 9pm!
Kala's AIR program is a subsidized fee-based artist residency that provides 24/7 access to Kala's printshop, digital lab, black and white darkroom, and more. Residents also receive individual storage space including a flat file and cubby, and opportunities to participate in Kala exhibitions. Kala’s shared artist apartments house four artists each month coming from outside of Northern California (Kala has two, 2 bedroom apartments, meaning AIRs staying in these units will be living with a roommate and sharing a kitchen, living room, and bathroom).
