Book Launch Party & Benefit - Ask Like An Auctioneer

Join us for the launch party for Dia Bondi's first book Ask Like an Auctioneer, October 27th, 6-9pm in the Kala Gallery. It will be a night of art, food, ideas and a little bit of dancing - Get your tickets now!

New Teen Studio Classes

Watercolor Illustration

Thursdays, Nov 2-30, 4-5:30pm

Instructor: Yael Levy

Location: Kala Community Classroom

Teens will be introduced to watercolor techniques and practice controlling this notoriously unpredictable medium. Using nature as our guide, we will learn about color mixing, layering, and blending as well as hard and soft edges and different strokes and effects to create beautiful illustrations. All levels welcome!

Drawing Exploration: Observation, Imagination and Memory

Tuesdays, Nov 28 - Dec 12, 4-6pm

Join us for a three-week drawing intensive before the New Year that will cover the basics of drawing in contemporary art. Classes will cover three themes: drawing from observation, imagination, and memory. All levels welcome!

Printmaking Holiday Cards

Tuesdays, Dec 7-14, 4-5:30pm

Instructor: Yael Levy

Location: Kala Community Classroom

Create your own personalized greeting cards! Students will carve their own printing blocks, try printing with a traditional press, and experiment with some low-prep screen printing. All levels welcome!

Linocut Printing: Pattern Design on Fabric & Clothing with Alyssa Aviles

Saturdays, Oct 28 - Nov 4, 10am-1pm in the Kala Printmaking Studio

Students will learn the process of designing and carving an image on to a piece of linoleum, and other methods of printing patterns on fabric. Students are encouraged to think experimentally with their printing surfaces and are invited to bring clothing to up-cycle with their designs or print on a large piece of fabric that can be used for a future project.

Screenprinting as Painting II with Leonard Reidelbach

Sundays, Nov 12 & 19, 10am-4pm in the Kala Printmaking Studio

Using the foundations from Screenprinting as Painting I, participants will develop their own two or three layer print with support from the instructor. There will be an emphasis on exploring strategies to make one-of-a-kind iterations across a collection of prints, including monoprinting, reductive printmaking, and advanced color mixing.

Soul Art Journey: Exploring The Inner Landscape with Tomoko Murakami

Sundays, Nov 12 & 19, 10am-4pm in the Kala Community Classroom

Through various exercises such as simple writing, image making, gentle body movement, and making or listening to sounds, participants will be guided on their unique journey of self-discovery while exploring intuition and imagination.
