Litchfield Jazz Camp Opens its 28th Season

Litchfield Jazz Camp begins its 28th run, June 30 at Frederick Gunn School in Washington CT. We are excited to tell you about some stellar additions to our great annual teaching lineup. On drums, we welcome Jerome Jennings and McClenty Hunter. You may have heard McClenty with the great Dave Styker at LJF recently. Jerome, who has appeared with Sonny Rollins, Hank Jones, Christian McBride, Ron Carter, George Cables and others, was a former Juilliard faculty member and is now a Professor of Jazz History at Montclair State. Charlie Sigler joins us on guitar. A former Litchfield Camper, Charlie has appeared with Christian McBride, Slide Hampton, Billy Hart, Lenny White, and Winard Harper. Pianist Julian Shore and tenor saxophonist Wayne Escoffery are back after world tours that took them to Japan and beyond, and Jimmy Greene was able to schedule us in around touring as a member of the Ron Carter Quartet. Our four weekly sessions end on July 26th when the 29th Annual Litchfield Jazz Festival kicks off. Camp enrollment is at a recent all-time high this summer. However, there is still room for a limited number of students. Sorry, we can’t accept any more pianists or drummers, but other instruments can be accommodated in most sessions. As of this writing, there are two openings for vocalists (wk4).

Jazz After Work all July!

Litchfield Jazz Camp opens its nightly faculty concerts, Jazz After Work, to campers and the community of jazz lovers around us. Concerts begin at 6:30 on weeknights except for Wednesdays. There is no charge for these concerts thanks to a sponsorship by Litchfield Bancorp. If you cannot attend in person, join us via live stream. Lineups and a link will be posted on our website. These are some of the best jazz concerts you’ll hear anywhere, and they are the best buy in jazz in 2024!
