A message from Superintendent Kenji Matsudo:

Mr. Chris Flanagan, our beloved principal of Madeira Elementary School, passed away suddenly on April 24. Our school family and the entire Madeira community grieves the loss of this wonderful man - a father, husband, friend, principal, and so much more to so many people. As a school district, we have needed to find the strength to lean into our sadness while also being reminded of hope for better days ahead. Together this week, students and staff have shared remembrances of Mr. Flanagan in their own ways. We are so thankful for the support of our PTOs who have fueled our teachers with breakfast and lunch treats as well as parent groups offering additional prayers and supports. Our own Madeira Police Department has also been with us each step of the way.  All of these amazing supports come from love for Mr. Flanagan and support for his family.  We also want to express our gratitude to the over 10 different districts and agencies who provided additional supports, therapy dogs, and a listening ear.

Thank you for the amazing support and outpouring of love for the Flanagan family.  Please continue to keep them in your thoughts and prayers. We know in Madeira that TOGETHER, we can find strength for each day and hope for tomorrow.
