Up Next in the Galleries
Eluding Capture: Three Artists From Central Asia
On view beginning February 3, 2024
Artists Saodat Ismailova, Alexander Ugay, and Gulnur Mukazhanova seek pictorial, material, and metaphysical agency from colonial legacies, a search for self-definition that acknowledges the incoherency of the past.
Osman Khan: Road to Hybridabad
On view beginning May 24, 2024
This sprawling and wryly funny exhibition invites us on a journey across borders, through time, and between legend and history, encouraging us to reconsider–and perhaps rewrite–the narratives around identity, difference, and power reflected in the tales we tell ourselves.
Carly Glovinski: Almanac
On view beginning June 22, 2024
Carly Glovinski’s largest pressed flower work to date, spanning 100-feet, Almanac envisions the late April through mid-September northeastern New England growing season through hundreds of painted and cut out blooms of dozens of flower varieties. By observing, tending, and preserving these flowers, the installation becomes a visual record of time and seasons passing, as well as a commentary on the labor of care.
Amy Podmore: Audience
On view beginning July 27, 2024
Exhibited in MASS MoCA’s Building 6, artist Amy Podmore assumes implicit dialogue with Louise Bourgeois (1911-2010), whose work will be on view adjacent to her own. Generations apart, both artists nonetheless invoke whimsical forms and concepts of the gaze to consider the psychological uncanniness of the everyday.
