Returning to Downtown Royal Oak in 2024!  Winter Blast Royal Oak presented by Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort is a free admission community event that will take place February 2024 in and around Centennial Commons and the Royal Oak City Center.  The event features live music, free ice skating, ice sculptures, learn to ski/snowboard experience, zip line, food trucks, kids adventure zone, free family activities and more.

Downtown Dollars at Winter Blast

To enhance the experience at Winter Blast and invite visitors to experience the many eclectic retailers in Downtown Royal Oak, the Royal Oak Downtown Development Authority will give away a FREE $25 Downtown Dollars$ eGift to the first 1,000 attendees to sign up each day throughout Winter Blast Weekend!

FOOD TRUCK RALLY

In addition to the fabulous restaurants you can find in Downtown Royal Oak, Winter Blast will host the below food trucks throughout the weekend:

The Rink at Royal Oak - presented by M3 Investment Services
Downtown Royal Oak now has it’s own outdoor ice rink!  Located in Centennial Commons, The Rink at Royal Oak is open seven days a week. 

But the only weekend you can skate for free is Winter Blast Weekend!  Courtesy of Oakland County, you can skate for free with rental skates available for $5. Skates will be available in sizes 9 & up for kids and up to size 14 for adults. You may also bring your own skates if you prefer.

The Ice Garden will feature a variety of expertly crafted ice sculptures.

The beautifully carved and lighted sculptures will make for festive scenery, perfect for memorable family photos. On-site ice carving demonstrations also will take place during the festival.

The Ice Garden will be located through out Centennial Commons

LIVE MUSIC

Winter Blast will showcase live, local musicians on the Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort, House of Dank and DTE Energy Kid stages throughout the weekend. Each stage will be located in a heated Comfort Zone, with video screens located on the outside of each tent so you can watch the shows through out the festival as well.  Plus there’s strolling performances from Detroit Circus buskers outside!

Prove your bravery and skill, and you might just be knighted in a heartfelt ceremony, forever etching your name in the annals of the Medieval Village lore!

Meet these fearless warriors, both men and women, clad in gleaming armor ready for selfies (knightly selfies, anyone?). Pet their gentle horses and feel the power and grace of these magnificent creatures up close.

Mt. Brighton will take charge of delivering a learn to ski and snowboard experience. The resort will be using its state of the art snowmaking system to make snow for the event. Festival goers have the opportunity to get fitted for ski or snowboard gear and go down a beginner-level slope with the help of Mt. Brighton Ski and Ride School instructors.

ZIP LINE RIDES

PRESENTED BY BAKER COLLEGE
Soar through the air and fly over the Winter Blast.  Thrill-seekers will be lining up to experience the ultimate rush of flying 300 feet across the sky -- the length of a football field!  This festival feature is the longest, fastest mobile zip line available and allows two people to zip simultaneously on two lines 34 feet in the air.  

Guests on the Zip Line Adventure presented by Baker College must be at least 30 pounds and not more than 235 pounds including clothes. Women who are pregnant and those with back problems of any kind should not ride the Zip Line.  There are no refunds at any point in the process and tickets are taken prior to riders being harnessed.  If guests are buying two tickets, both riders must be present at the time of purchase.  Guests may not ride the Zip Line more than once every two hours unless there is no line at the time of purchase. The Zip Line Adventure will take place on 3rd Street just east of Troy and tickets are $15 each or 2 for $25.
