Since its 2013 inception, Miami Beach Classical Music Festival (MMF) has been proud to establish Miami as a premier destination for elite young classical musicians to train and perform. While the next generation of classical artists come to Miami to receive instruction from an assembly of world-class faculty, the community benefits from accessible public concerts featuring top talent alongside many of classical music’s greatest living performers in repertoire rarely heard in South Florida.

8:00 PM -- Le Nozze di Figaro

One of Mozart’s most beloved works gets a classic retelling, bringing to Miami the music and characters that have captured the hearts of opera lovers the world over. Servants Figaro and his promised Susanna prepare for their upcoming wedding, only to find that his employer the Count has impure intentions for her as well. Fearing that the Count will reinstate the ancient First Night rite to rendezvous with her, Figaro sets about scheming to outsmart him. Meanwhile, the lovely Countess, to whom Susanna is ever faithful, begins to suspect the same and devises her own trap to catch him in his mischief. The classes battle in a light-hearted comedy sung in Italian by the MMF Opera Institute, which features some of Mozart’s most beautiful melodies ever written.

6:00 PM -- Ocean Drive Promenade Music Series: Arias at Sunset

The Miami Beach Classical Music Festival presents featured performances in the Ocean Drive Association’s resident-centric and family-friendly concert series bringing classical music outside of the concert hall and into the community. Every Sunday in July, music lovers can catch MMF participants on the Ocean Drive Promenade performing all your favorite Aria, Broadway, and Chamber Music selections.

These event are free and open to the public - and will take place in Lummus Park between 14th Street and 14th Place as part of the Ocean Drive Association's Promenade Concert Series.

Don’t forget to bring your lawn/beach chairs, blankets, and picnics!

In this whimsical French one-act opera which translates to “The child and the magic spells,” a young boy learns the importance of kindness and empathy. In a world where furniture, fire, and animals come to life, Ravel’s dreamy lyric score spins a modern fable with an ageless message. Immerse yourself into the scenes of the opera on a delightful musical journey as the child learns valuable life lessons and faces the consequences of their actions.

When an old curmudgeon dies, who inherits his fortune? In the aftermath of a wealthy man’s passing, Puccini’s one-act spins the uproarious tale of scheming relatives and one crafty neighbor, Gianni Schicchi. Filled with colorful characters and laced with Puccini's signature lyrical genius, this opera is an exhilarating rollercoaster of emotions that will have you laughing one moment and on the edge of your seat the next.

Based on a brief reference in Dante’s Inferno, this comic opera showcases a wonderfully verismo ensemble cast singing Puccini’s score full of humorous musical devices and features one of the most memorable arias in the operatic canon, “O mio babbino caro.”

Get ready for an unforgettable journey as this beloved opera is enhanced by the breathtaking magic of immersive projection mapping technology, placing the audience in a continuous 360-degree display.

Performed by singers from the MMF Opera Institute, take a journey through a mysterious forest as the lush foliage springs to life around you. Witness the sugary walls and candy-coated rooftop of a gingerbread house materialize before your eyes and the dangers looming nearby.

What started as a chamber opera with a children’s libretto and an encouraged idea by the composer’s sister became an instant success, tutored by Wagner and championed by Strauss. Combining popular folk tunes from Humperdinck’s childhood with an endearing and lush score, MMF Opera Institute singers take us on a musical journey through a fanciful world in the harrowing fable of Hansel and Gretel.

Monteverdi’s final opera brings gods, love, and men in conflict as Emperor Nero Augustus plans to supplant his wife, the Empress Ottavia, with his lover, Poppea. Ottone, hopelessly in love with Poppea himself, realizes that he could not compete with the Emperor and proposes marriage to Drusilla, a noblewoman in the court of the Empress. When Ottavia summons Ottone and demands he kill Poppea, nothing short of divine intervention could stop the Empress’ revenge. MMF’s Baroque Institute presents an intimate setting of this classic opera.
