Chair Barnes uplifts the workers and unions that made Michigan and are still working to build a brighter future

LANSING –– On Sep 2nd, Michigan Dems are celebrating Vice President Kamala Harris coming to Michigan to mark the lasting impact unions have had on our state’s history and the many contributions workers make to this day. To celebrate Labor Day, Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party Lavora Barnes released the following statement:

“Michigan Democrats are proud to stand in solidarity with the labor movement today and every day because we know that unions built the middle class and, to this day, continue to fight for a strong economy that doesn’t just benefit the wealthiest 1%, but gives working families the chance to thrive.

“This afternoon, we are excited to have Vice President Kamala Harris here to be a part of our state’s proud labor history. Harris has walked picket lines and stood shoulder to shoulder with working people because she understands what it means to fight for fair wages and better working conditions. Meanwhile, Trump has spent his life cheating workers, helping billionaires, and, let’s not mince words here, being a scab.

“Today is the perfect reminder that the fight for workers’ rights is not yet finished, and we must elect Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz this November to continue building a brighter future hand in hand with working people.”
