From: City Of NapervilleNaperville, IL - The Naperville Police Department is now accepting applications for a 10-week Citizen Police Academy (CPA) to be held this spring. The academy will begin on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 and continue every Wednesday night until May 10. Applications are due by Tuesday, Jan. 31, and will be considered in the order they are received.
Naperville’s Citizen Police Academy gives citizens insight into the inner workings of police operations, practices and objectives. Instruction consists of classroom lectures, interactive discussions and hands-on demonstrations focusing on various aspects of police work, including patrol, investigations, forensics, and special response, among others.
“Citizen Police Academy gives residents an inside look at the day-to-day operations of our department and introduces them to the many ways we protect and serve this community,” said Police Chief Jason Arres. “If you’ve ever wondered about our policies, tactics, equipment, training or any other topic concerning policing in Naperville, you’ll learn all that and more at CPA.”
All classes are free and will be held at the Naperville Police Department, 1350 Aurora Ave., from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Course content and activities dictate that class size is limited to 24 participants. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and must either reside or work in the City of Naperville. A criminal background check is conducted on each applicant.
