The North Carolina Republican Party applauds action taken by the General Assembly to require additional Early Voting sites in Henderson County through Saturday, November 2.

In Henderson County, which currently has over 92,000 registered voters, the use of just one Early Voting site has needlessly frustrated residents who want to cast their ballots prior to November 5.

According to a report from the Associated Press, "Officials closed lanes on a major highway to help move election traffic, and golf carts ferried voters from an auto parts store parking lot to the county’s lone voting site."

The Henderson County Board of Election was also the victim of incorrect guidance from the N.C. State Board of Elections. While the guidance was corrected, the Board did not approve the sites at that time. This is an error that can now be corrected.

Previously, The NCGOP and RNC sent a letter urging action from the Henderson County Board of Elections.

"The General Assembly has acted to ensure voters have more options to make their voices heard and we thank them for moving swiftly to address this issue," said NCGOP Communications Director Matt Mercer.
