New Digital Ad: ‘In His Own Words’ Highlighting Hung CAO’s Bizarre Statements

Government and Politics

July 18, 2024

This week, as Hung Cao took the stage at the Republican National Convention in Wisconsin, the DPVA launched a new video to remind Virginians just how extreme Hung Cao is – in his own words. The new digital ad features a compilation of the outrageous, extreme, and downright strange things Cao has said about topics ranging from abortion to - inexplicably - witchcraft.

Here are just a few of the lowlights from Cao himself:

- Hung Cao discussed the definitions of “man” and “woman” by talking about how people go to the bathroom.

- Hung Cao called himself “African American” because he lived in Africa.

- Hung Cao declared that there is a surge of witchcraft in California…?

- Hung Cao compared women who get abortions to Nazis.

- Hung Cao admitted that he has friends who were investigated over their activities related to the January 6th insurrection at the Capitol. With friends like these….

- Hung Cao repeatedly spread debunked misinformation about the 2020 election.

- Hung Cao said he needs “a lot more data” to believe in climate change because God gave us the rainbow.

- Hung Cao said he would take down members of Congress “with a platoon.”

- Hung Cao requested that he be given a KKK hood with “the little slits and not the circles so I can see better.”

“Hung Cao is too extreme and, frankly, too bizarre for Virginia. But you don’t just have to take my word for it - we encourage every Virginian to listen to Hung Cao in his own outlandish words,” said DPVA Chair Susan Swecker. “No matter what new strange thing Hung Cao says at the RNC tonight, he won’t be able to hide from his out-of-touch statements that disqualify him from representing Virginia in the U.S. Senate.”
