Kathy Sue Alves, age 68 of Derby, died peacefully on July 2, 2024 at Griffin Hospital surrounded by her family. Born in Anchorage, Alaska on February 13, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Fletcher C. and Grace V. Morgan Barrow. Ms. Alves was born on a U.S. Airforce Base and was raised on the many bases around the country her father was stationed on. She was a valley resident of over 50 years and a retiree of Life Touch Studios. Following her retirement, Ms. Alves worked as a self-employed home health aide. She enjoyed cooking, camping and boating, but her true joy was riding on the back of her soulmate’s Harley Davidson. She will be long remembered for her dry sarcasm, her incredible sense of humor and her ability to express her special love in every situation. She is survived by her devoted son, William L. Alves, Jr. and his fiancé, Jessie Grenfell of Cheshire; daughter, Gerrica Baisley of FL; a cherished grandson, Michael Hempel of Cheshire; and her beloved companion and former spouse, William L.
