NEW LENOX (November 30, 2022) – Providence Catholic Girls Basketball is proud to host a Super Celtics Special Needs Co-ed Camp on January 5th and 6th, 2023.

The camp will run in two sessions for both boys and girls. Ages 5-10 can register for camp that runs from 10:00-11:00 AM, and ages 11-15 can register for camp that runs 11:00 AM-12:00 PM. Each camper will be paired with a 2 on 1 group or with a 1 on 1 high school player as their buddy for the duration of the camp. As a supervisor of the camp, Jenna Maziur was a special education teacher for 7 years along with having a son who has nonverbal Autism. Parents are encouraged to stay for the camp. The drills and games will be modified to best fit the needs of the campers. If you would like to send additional information about your camper to Jenna Maziur or Eileen Copenhaver, that would be beneficial. Camp is $25 (due on the first day of camp), and includes t-shirt.

“It’s important for athletes to provide opportunities for others to share in the love of a sport they are so passionate about,” says Providence Catholic High School’s Head Girls Basketball Coach Eileen Copenhaver. “And that includes anyone who would like to participate in basketball. We are so excited for this opportunity. As the saying goes, ‘When everyone is included, everyone wins.’ We look forward to a day full of fun and learning.”

“We are excited about this opportunity to welcome area grade school students with special needs to have some fun while learning a little basketball,” says Coach Jenna Maziur. “This is really something our team has wanted to put together, and we are excited to host it for the first time.”
