Teen Tastes: Will It Waffle?

Brookline Village Library
FRIDAY, September 30 at 3 PM
What sweet and savory combos can you create on a waffle iron? Teens in grades 8-12 are invited to test their waffling skills and discover new and interesting flavors both savory and sweet, all made with a waffle iron. First come, first served, while supplies last!

This event is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Brookline Public Library.

ELL Creative Writing Series: In Your Own Words
Brookline Village Library
THURSDAY, September 29 at 12:30 PM
Join us for a fun, friendly series of workshops as we explore the topic of creative writing in English. This program will help you build on your current knowledge and take your writing beyond a typical classroom setting. Become a part of a supportive group and see how expressing yourself creatively can make your skills stronger.

This program is open to all adult English language learners comfortable writing full sentences in English–no experience in creative writing is required. The 90-minute writing workshops will meet on September 29 and October 13 from 12:30-2 PM. You can attend any or all of the sessions. No registration required. Please note that we will not be able to accommodate children or strollers due to space constraints.

Grammar and More

Brookline Village Library
TUESDAY, October 4 at 11 AM
Join us every first and third Tuesday of the month to practice English in a structured and relaxed way. Each session we will review and practice grammar concepts based on the goals and interests of the participants. The activities will include structured review and games. This group is for adult language learners of advanced-beginner and intermediate levels. Registration is required and opens one week before each session, so registration for the first session opens on Tuesday, September 27.

An Evening with Ben Mezrich: Exploring the Mind of a Literary Rockstar

WEDNESDAY, October 12 at 7 PM
Have you always wanted to know how to write a best-seller? Craft the script for an award-winning Hollywood movie? Bring down the house at Las Vegas? Create and produce a hit TV show? Have a lucrative career doing what you love? Ben Mezrich has accomplished all these things and many more. Known as the “reigning cowboy of narrative non-fiction,” Mezrich will be at the Brookline High School on October 12 to share some of the secrets of his success.

An Evening with Ben Mezrich: Exploring the Mind of a Literary Rock Star will present Cambridge-based Mezrich, a lively and provocative author, scriptwriter, and adventurer, in conversation with the multi-talented Hank Phillippi Ryan, USA Today bestselling writer of acclaimed mystery novels and Emmy-winning investigative reporter for Boston’s 7News. The event is free and open to the public. Copies of Mezrich’s and Ryan’s books will be available for purchase through the Brookline Booksmith, and both authors will be available to sign their books. This event is generously sponsored by the Library Trustees.
