From: Westlink Branch LibraryThe Westlink Branch of the Wichita Public Library, located at 8515 Bekemeyer, will close at the end of business on Saturday, May 6 to begin a year-long remodel and expansion of the facility.
Library staff will move materials to the temporary location, 7011 W. Central, Suite 205 (near Central and Ridge), which will open for operation on Monday, May 22. Customers who use the Westlink Branch as their primary location should return books and other materials to the book drop at the temporary location or to another nearby Wichita Public Library location during this transition.
The temporary location will offer a small collection for browsing and check out, photocopying, self-check, library card registration, public internet and PC stations, and holds pick up.
Hours of operation will be 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday, 1-5 p.m. Saturday and closed on Sunday.
Thriving libraries are connecting points for education, entertainment, social interaction and creating pride and self-respect. The remodel and expansion at the Westlink Branch will add community meeting rooms, study spaces, a drive up window, expanded children’s room and updated technology. Several community focus groups were held in March with the design firm to gather public interest for desired amenities.
