Calling All Explorers
It’s time to be part of the largest community science event in the world!

The City Nature Challenge is starting in just a few days, and we need your help to document as many organisms around San Diego as possible. This community science project helps us better understand the wildlife that is all around us and how it’s changing over time. All you need is a smartphone and the iNaturalist app. As you explore San Diego, snap pictures of the nature around you, then upload them to iNaturalist.

This international city-wide competition takes place this weekend from April 28 to May 1. On Saturday, April 29, there are at least nine different guided walks happening around the county you can participate in!

Learn about the history and preservation of Torrey Pines.

Torrey Pines is known for its beautiful sandstone cliffs, wildflowers, hiking trails... the list goes on and on. Join us on May 2 at 7 PM for a Nat Talk with photographer Bill Evarts as he shares his perspective on the role The Nat and his grandfather—Clinton Abbott—played in saving Torrey Pines and other public lands in San Diego. You will also get a peek at photos of Torrey Pines that have been taken from locations never accessible to the public!

Enjoy his talk and stop by the Museum store after for a book sale and signing of his book, Torrey Pines: Landscape and Legacy.
