Sheehy has a history of refusing to back federal legislation to protect access to IVF treatment
Helena, MT – On Sep 17th, Senate Republicans blocked legislation that would have ensured all families could access IVF treatment. Tim Sheehy’s record makes it clear that he would stand in lockstep with Mitch McConnell and refuse to protect Montana women’s access to the care they need to grow their families with IVF.
In June, Sheehy joined the Montana GOP as they made their plans to take away IVF treatment from Montana families clear through the party’s platform plank. The platform states: “We support non-embryonic stem cell research and the ethical treatment of embryos created through invitro fertilization,” echoing language that Republicans have long used in order to pass legislation to ban or seriously restrict IVF access. Sheehy attended and spoke at the Montana GOP platform convention.
Previously, Sheehy refused to support federal IVF treatment protections. Sheehy is also endorsed by SBA Pro-Life America, an extreme organization that opposed the bill Senate Republicans blocked today.
