Arts and Entertainment

July 30, 2024

From: Siempre Flamenco's Festival de Cante Miami

The 18th edition of Siempre Flamenco's Festival de Cante Flamenco is thrilled to bring Miami audiences a spine-tingling experience! This mesmerizing and passionate production focuses on the art of flamenco singing. The soulful, gripping sounds of Cante Flamenco — traditional flamenco song — are believed to have their roots in the medieval music of Spain with strong Moorish, Gypsy and Jewish influences. Enjoy the opportunity to watch an art form that is seldom heard outside Spain.

This year’s festival features acclaimed Spanish Flamenco singers Macarena de Jerez, José Campos “Morenito Hijo” and Samuel Serrano; exceptional guitarist José Cortés “Panzekito”; rising dance sensation José Jiménez “El Bocadillo”; and a special guest artist, flamenco guitar legend Paco Cepero. “With his Jerez personality and an absolutely unmistakable style, Paco Cepero is on everyone’s short list of the greatest cante accompanists of all time.” (Estela Zatania) Siempre Flamenco's founding members Paco and Celia Fonta will join the ensemble with their guitar and dance, respectively, and complete this terrific lineup of flamenco artists. Celia and Paco are the recipients of the Florida Folk Heritage Award, the state's highest honor for folk and traditional arts.

This year’s festival includes an additional guitar concert on August 22, “Canta la Guitarra,” featuring festival guitarists Paco Cepero, Paco Fonta and José Cortés “Pansekito”. The three guitarists will perform together and in solos. And that is not all. They also sing.

Intimate, passionate, raw and bewitching! Deep emotions emanate from flamenco song and unite with the intricate fury of dance in a performance that will exhilarate audiences with an up-close, intimate experience.

You will not want to miss this extravaganza!
