Festival of Trees in Honor of Late Friend & Colleague
November marked the one year anniversary of the loss of Springfield City Library's own, Gayle Ball. Teen Services Librarian, Sarah Hodge-Wetherbe, organized a way to honor her memory for all staff. Over the last year, Sarah and staff members donated decorations for the Festival of Trees fundraiser. The tree was then decorated by staff members with all of "Gayle's Favorite Things," which included butterflies, Red Sox, Bruins, cats & more. Staff members, along with some of Gayle's family, attended the fundraiser to view the tree and beautifully written tribute.

Help Support Our Mitten Tree!
We still need your help! Donations of new mittens, gloves, hats, and scarves may be added to the mitten tree in any library location. Donated items will be distributed throughout Springfield in January. Thank you!
Dropping off the First Yearbooks to Be Digitized
The first set of yearbooks have made their way to Boston to start the digitization process! Pictured here are boxes of yearbooks that YOU helped us collect and Jake Sadow from Digital Commonwealth. We're so excited that this highly anticipated process has officially begun and can't wait for the day these yearbooks are available for all to view online. AND it's not too late to donate yearbooks to our collection! This is just the first round of digitization. If you have any Springfield high school yearbooks that you'd like to donate to this project, please contact us at 413-263-6828.
