Get a taste of Chicago food history at the Taste of Chicago! Join Monica Eng and David Hammond, coauthors of Made in Chicago: Stories Behind 30 Great Hometown Bites (2023) for an hour of history and trivia to learn about the people and places behind 15 of your favorite Chicago bites!

The book will be available for purchase and the authors will sign books at the end of the program.

Monica Eng is a reporter for Axios Chicago and cohost of the podcast Chewing. She has worked as a food, culture, and investigative reporter at WBEZ Chicago Public Radio and at the Chicago Tribune, where she was nominated for five James Beard Awards for writing.

David Hammond is Dining and Drinking Editor for Newcity Chicago magazine. He regularly writes on food-and drink-related topics for Wednesday Journal and the Chicago Tribune and is a founding member/moderator of LTHForum.com, a site celebrating Chicago’s mom-and-pop restaurants.

Friday Night Flights September,8 2023

Serving as the perfect pairing for Taste of Chicago’s culinary offerings, Choose Chicago will host the popular Friday Night Flights tasting event from 4 to 9pm on Friday, September 8. Taste guests will have the opportunity to choose 10 sample size portions from 25 local breweries. Tickets for Friday Night Flights are available at ChooseChicago.org for $25 in advance or $30 onsite. Guests must be 21 years of age or older to purchase alcohol in the State of IL, and a valid ID is required.
