Do you have a special talent that you want to show off? The Tempe Public Library is ready to give local performers a way to showcase their talents with the first ever Tempe's Got Talent Show. Whether you are a musician, singer, dancer, poet, ballerina, magician, ventriloquist, you name it, we want to see your talent! Performers of all ages will be competing for a trophy and a top prize of a $100 gift card to the winner, a $75 gift card for 2nd place and a $50 gift card for third place.
This family-friendly talent show is free to enter and open to all ages. To enter, submit a video audition through March 1 by posting a 3-5 minute video on YouTube and sending a link to the library at: [email protected]. The competition with the finalists will be held Saturday, April 22 from 1-3 p.m. at the Tempe History Museum, which is across the plaza from the library at 809 E. Southern Ave. So if you have what it takes, get ready to show it!

Amy Dominy
Meet TPL's spring Writer-in-Residence, Amy Dominy. Amy grew up loving to read and figured out at an early age that books were magical and necessary. She started submitting her own stories to be published when she was 13. Amy is now the award-winning author of nine books for teens, tweens and toddlers. A former copywriters and MFA playwright, Amy writes contemporary YA, character-driven middle grade and humorous picture books including the Cookiesaurus Rex series, a reader-award winner in multiple states. Her novels have been recognized as Bank Street College Best Book Selections and OyMG is an ALA Sydney Taylor Notable Book for Teens. Submissions began for the 9th annual Tempe Writing Contest on Jan. 9 and go through Feb. 28. We invite submissions for high school students, college students and adults in fiction, poetry and nonfiction. Artists and designers can also submit an original cover design for the book with the winning entries to be published in April 2023. Full contest details here.
