The 2023 Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival tickets are on sale now.

DETROIT (March 16, 2023) – The 2023 Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival is set to take place this summer from June 10-24, marking its 30-year anniversary. Tickets to the Festival are on sale now, providing access to classical concerts in venues across southeast Michigan.

The theme of the Festival centers around "Turning Points," highlighting pivotal works by

composers who have all influenced the course of classical music. The Festival will include a mix of chamber music classics, as well as new commissions.

This year’s Festival features 30 individual artists and six ensembles, four of which are part of the organization’s Shouse Institute, an educational program connecting emerging ensembles with industry veterans.

The 2023 Festival has a number of noteworthy highlights, including:

-Three concerts by the Emerson String Quartet as part of their farewell tour. The Festival will be the last time they perform in Michigan prior to the group’s retirement.

-Collaborative chamber music performance of the first act of “Così fan tutte” with the Detroit Opera Resident Artist Program including a Festival debut of Nathan Stark, bass-baritone from the Metropolitan Opera.

-Festival debut of pianist Shai Wosner, in a performance of the Dvorak Piano Quintet with the Emerson String Quartet.

-The start of a new commissioning collaboration with Chamber Music Northwest and the Seattle Chamber Music Society.

With over 29 concerts and events, the 2023 Festival provides a wide array of opportunities for patrons to experience chamber music across southeast Michigan.

About the Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival 

The Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival was born in 1994 of a remarkable relationship between religious and cultural institutions. A secular event, the Festival is sponsored by three religious institutions (representing Catholic, Jewish and Protestant faiths) and Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings, a prominent musical ensemble that is an administrative partner for the Festival. Traditionally, for two weeks each June, the Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival presents more than 20 concerts in southeastern Michigan.
