From: The Plaza Arts CenterThe Plaza Arts Center and The Arts Barn have been putting on Coffee Houses for a while now and once last year, the group put on a little something different — the Cocoa House.
What’s a Cocoa House?
A Cocoa House is just like a Coffee House in that the public is invited and encouraged to come out and see some young talent perform in their own genre. Whether it’s dancing, singing or acting, it has been proven time and time again that the lake area is full of talented young people.
At the Cocoa House, refreshments will be available, donations accepted and a great night is to be had. But instead of high schoolers to 25 year olds, the Cocoa House is all about the younger ones. The Cocoa House is a space for fifth to eighth graders to come and share their talents.
Cocoa and Coffee Houses are completely free to attend. Performers are area young people that are coming out and giving their talent a shot in a safe and nurturing environment. Each Coffee or Cocoa House raises funds for the Summer Broadway Intensive — which will culminate in performances of Seussical this year.
The first Cocoa House of 2023 will take place April 13 at the Putnam County Middle School Theater.
Admission is free to the public and refreshments will be for sale.
