PAPA presenting The Odd Couple, looking for talent

PAPA - Plaza Alliance for the Performing Arts is searching for talent! Auditions will be held for Neil Simon’s The Odd Couple Feb. 13 and 19 at The Plaza Arts Center. The Odd Couple will be performed April 20-23.

The Odd Couple is a classic comedy by Neil Simon that was produced for a long run on Broadway and eventually became a very popular movie. The play opens as a group of guys assembles for cards in the apartment of divorced Oscar Madison. The apartment is a mess, a word that also describes Oscar. Late to arrive is Felix Unger who has just been separated from his wife. Felix is Oscar’s opposite in that Felix is fastidious, depressed, and tense. As the action unfolds, Oscar has had it with Felix, his new house mate because of Felix’s obsession with neatness and cleanliness. Oscar is perfectly happy to be a slob.

This play provides funny situations with lots of laughs for the audiences.

The Odd Couple calls for 6 males and 2 females.

The characters are:
Oscar—a carefree, good-natured sportswriter who is oblivious to clutter. (4 scenes, 456 lines)

Felix—a fussy man who refuses to make concessions or compromises to his need for neatness. (4 scenes, 386 lines)

Gwendolyn Pigeon—the giggly upstairs neighbor (2 scenes, 66 lines)
