1pm: Historic Theatre Walking Tour
Journey with us through the theatrical history of Washington, DC – literally! Theatre Week 2024 is proud to bring back the fan-favorite walking tour of downtown DC theatres. Co-hosted by Farar Elliot (Curator and Chief, Office of Art and Archives in the U.S. House of Representatives) and Chris Geidner (Journalist and Blogger, Law Dork), this 90-minute tour celebrates the past, present, and future of your favorite downtown venues. Kicking things off at the historic National Theatre, this guided exploration of the Penn Quarter neighborhood features stops at Ford's Theatre, Shakespeare Theatre Company, and Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company – plus some fun facts about the #dctheatre community at large. After the tour (optional), enjoy a Pay-What-You-Will ticket offer to see The Comeuppance by DC native and Tony Award winner Branden Jacobs-Jenkins at Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company.

2pm: City on the River Concert
Theatre Washington returns to the DC Wharf Transit Pier to make waves with musical theatre showstoppers from a dozen of the #dctheatre season’s
productions. The banks of the Potomac will hum with songs from Jersey Boys (Toby’s Dinner Theatre), In the Heights (Signature Theatre), Frozen (Olney Theatre Center), and more! This year’s free City on the River Concert will feature 15 DC-area theatre artists who will spend the afternoon showing off highlights from the season’s biggest musicals. And you can be part of the fun - come tell your theatre story at our pre-show interactive performance piece: Our Living Room!

A panel of experts will delve into why Washington, DC is one of the nation's premier theater towns. Together, they explore the exciting lineup of productions awaiting audiences in the 24-25 season on stages both large and small. Moderated by Lauren Halvorsen, a freelance dramaturg and the publisher of the Nothing for the Group newsletter.

6:45pm: DCTheatre at the Nats
An industry outing for #dctheatre professionals. Join your fellow theatre-makers from the DC-area theatre community for a night out at the ball game. Come watch the Nats take on the Kansas City Royals and enjoy a rare opportunity to get together as a big, full industry community. From performers to dramaturgs, designers and directors to administrators, fundraisers, technicians, and stage managers…everyone is invited! Families and friends are more than welcome. Seats will be together in the left field mezzanine. Your $20 ticket includes your seat, a $20 voucher for food, drink, or souvenirs, and a special #dctheatre gift. Ticket proceeds go to the Taking Care Fund, supporting fellow theatre-makers in need of support. This event is generously underwritten by Christie Johnson, President of the Board of Directors of Prologue Theatre with additional support from Scott Ableman.
