Jazz Appreciation Month
April is Jazz Appreciation Month! Jazz originated in the late 19th and early 20th centuries in African-American communities in and around New Orleans; it's characterized by swing notes, complex chords, call and response vocals, and improvisation. Today there are many varieties of this artform: New Orleans jazz, Kansas City jazz, hard bop, Jazz-rock fusion, and many, many more. Stop by the Library to check out one of our many CDs, DVDs, or books, or browse the list curated by Library staff.
