COLDWATER – From fantastic beasts to ferocious jungle animals to kids being kids to drawings reminiscent of Maurice Sendak’s “Where the Wild Things Are,” Arts Alive invites artists of all ages and skill levels to submit their interpretations of “Wild Things” in their upcoming themed gallery show which will be displayed at Tibbits Opera House March through May.

While the gallery theme is “Wild Things,” it is up to the artist to interpret exactly what the phrase means to them.

Arts Alive member Matt Biolchini said, “As an artist myself I am very much looking forward to this show. The ways this theme could be interpreted are endless. The subject matter could conceivably range from depictions of someone’s favorite animal to a roughly lined sketch done wildly in haste.”

Artists may submit up to three pieces at $5 per submission. Paintings, photographs or drawings should be ready to hang using hanging wire. Sculpture or other mediums are accepted and encouraged as well. Prizes will be awarded to the top artists based on audience votes.  Artists may also sell their work on commission.

To be included in this art show, artists should drop off all pieces at Tibbits’ Administration Office at 93 W. Chicago St before 5pm Monday, March 13. “Wild Things” will be displayed through Monday, May 1 in the lower level art gallery at the historic Tibbits Opera House, located at 14 S. Hanchett St. in Coldwater MI

The art gallery currently features the “Black & White” exhibit whic hmay be viewed during events at Tibbits and by appointment. There is no admission charge for the gallery and visitors are encouraged to vote for Best of Show.
