Hebron Health and Safety

We have worked 99 days without a work-related injury or accident.

Public Works Department
This week the Public Works Department backfilled the edges of the road on Jan Drive following the new pavement project. New driveway aprons were installed as needed to control water runoff. Sign replacements were conducted where needed throughout town. The winter seasonal banners were installed and the crew assisted with installing the Christmas tree at the Old Town Hall.

Fire Department

Happy Friday!

December is here, and it is one of the busiest times of the year for fire related emergencies in the home. Please see the attached Christmas Tree and Winter Holiday safety tips for some great advice on  insuring your holidays go on without a hitch.

Looks like our Stuff-a-Truck event this weekend at the Library will be moved to Sunday as a result of the weather. Please bring a new, unwrapped gift to that event, or join us the following Saturday, 12/10/22 at Company 1, 44 Main Street, where the Fire Department and Resident Trooper’s office will be doing a Stuff-a-Truck and Stuff-a-Cruiser event.

I have also attached a few photos of  training Monday evening where our members had the opportunity to train on our new battery operated extrication tools. Great work by all!

This week the fire department responded to 19 EMS calls.

Planning Department

At the Special Meeting on November 29, 2022, the Planning and Zoning Commission adopted a zoning regulation amendment to extend the temporary and limited moratorium on cannabis establishments. Chatham Health

As of December 1, seven Connecticut counties (Fairfield, Hartford, Litchfield, Middlesex, New Haven, Tolland and Windham) have a MEDIUM COVID-19 community level.  One county (New London) has a LOW COVID-19 community level.

You can read more about prevention steps recommended by CDC at different community levels here:  https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/science/community-levels-county-map.html

-The average daily COVID-19 case rate in Chatham Health District this week is 8.7 cases/100000.  This is an increase from last week.

-The number of individuals currently hospitalized is 413.  This is an increase of 68 compared to last week.

-Fatalities increased compared to the last week (15 fatalities this week compared to 13 in the last week).

Approximately 78% of Chatham Health District residents are fully vaccinated for COVID-19, and 51% have received an additional dose.

State-level data indicate that about 12.9% of children under 5 have had at least one dose of a covid-19 vaccine while 7.8% are fully vaccinated.

In order to protect yourself and others from COVID-19:

- Stay up to date with your vaccinations.
- Get tested if you have symptoms.
- STAY HOME if you are sick or have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 5 days, and DO NOT leave home until:

- At least 5 days have passed since your symptoms began or since you tested positive,
- you are feeling much better, and
- no longer have a fever.

If you test positive and are more likely to get very sick from COVID-19, there are treatments available that can reduce your chances of being hospitalized or dying from the disease. These medications must be prescribed by a healthcare provider and started as soon as possible after diagnosis to be effective. Contact a healthcare provider right away to determine if you are eligible for treatment, even if your symptoms are mild right now.

You can find a Test to Treat location here: https://aspr.hhs.gov/TestToTreat/Pages/default.aspx?

CDC recommends that everyone 5 and older get the new updated bivalent booster if it has been at least 2 months since they completed their primary series or had their last booster dose. Chatham Health District is coordinating vaccine clinics.  To see upcoming scheduled vaccine clinics in the district, visit our website: https://www.chathamhealth.org/services-2, or call 2-1-1.

If you or a loved one is homebound and is not up-to-date on COVID-19 vaccination, register here: https://dphsubmissions.ct.gov/homebound
