From: Town Of MansfieldJanuary - March 2023 Trash Service Updates
Trash & Recycling Service Changes
There are no holiday schedule changes for this quarter. You can access the holiday collection schedule at www.mansfieldct.gov/trash, found under “Residential Trash/Recycle Collection.”
Extra Household Trash
You may put out a couple of extra bags of household trash (free of charge) on your collection day between December 26 and 30, 2022. Normally extra trash requires an extra bag tag to be collected.
Transfer Station Holiday Hours
The Transfer Station will close at NOON on Saturday, December 24, 2022. The Transfer Station will be open during regular hours, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, on Saturday, December 31, 2022.
Winter Weather
Sign Up For E-mail Notifications—Be informed of trash service changes in the event of inclement weather by going to www.mansfieldct.gov. Select the “Sign up for Notifications” icon, type in your e-mail address and select the Trash Service icon.
During a Snow Storm—Please do not place your containers ONthe road because our snow plows need access to clear roads and sidewalks. Consider skipping collection that week and putting out extra the following week, or use the transfer station at no cost. Questions? Contact the Recycling Coordinator at 860-429-3333 or [email protected].
Put Trash Out by 6:00 A.M.
The time of day when the truck picks up both your trash and recyclables can fluctuate. Please put out your trash and recyclables either the night before collection or by 6:00 a.m. to avoid missing service.
Christmas Trees
Trees, live or artificial, are not picked up with curbside collection. Instead, bring your tree to the transfer station. Live trees will be ground into wood chips. Please remove all ornaments. No charge. Artificial trees will be disposed as bulky waste. The charge for bulky waste is $30 per cubic yard.
Recycle Strings of Lights
Did you know you can recycle your strings of holiday lights that no longer work? Bring them to the Mansfield transfer station where they will be recycled with other wire products. DO NOT place them in the blue recycle container.
Needle Disposal
Sharps can be placed in household trash as long as they are in a sealed container.
Swap Shop Closed January and February
The Swap Shop will be closed during the chilly months of January and February. We look forward to opening in March, weather-permitting.
