Town of Old Lyme Weekly Update from the First Selectman - December 30, 2022

Government and Politics

January 2, 2023

From: Town of Old Lyme

After enduring that nasty span of cold weather, we are enjoying basking in the warm temps now.  It should help us ring in the New Year.

Please be advised that, because New Year’s Day falls on Sunday, the Federal holiday will be on Monday and the Town offices will be closed.  As was mentioned last week, the Transfer Station will be closed on Saturday, January 31st and on Monday, January 2nd.  CWPM, our refuse and recycling contractor, announced that it will maintain its collection routes in the normal fashion, so no change there.

Speaking of the Transfer Station, there will a change in the fee schedule starting on Tuesday, January 3rd.  The fee changes are due to the significant increases the Town is being charged by our disposal vendors, so please review the updated fee schedule on the Town web site.

The Town will conduct its Christmas tree curb side pick-up again this year, so please have you tree in front of your house by January 16th.  The Lyme-Old Lyme Boy Scouts offer to pick up your tree on Sunday either January 8 or 15 in return for a $10.00 donation.  Please call 860-245-9884 to schedule a pick-up, if you wish.

The Town still has COVID test kits available at no charge.  You may stop by and pick up two kits at the Selectman’s Office.  Residential households in the U.S. may also order one set of 4 at-home tests at no charge from: https://special.usps.com/testkits.

As the second installment of tax payments are due at the end of January, the Tax Office will be open on weekdays during January between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.  The Tax Collector announced that taxpayers may confirm the amount of their tax payments that are due by logging onto the Town web site – Tax Collector - Search Tax Bills On Line and follow the instructions.  Please be advised that if you pay a tax bill with a credit card, there will be a service charge.

Matt Ward, Martha Shoemaker and I wish everyone a Happy New Year!

Tim Griswold, First Selectman
