With RSV infections on the rise, take the necessary precautions to mitigate risks. These precautions include practicing good hygiene behaviors of thoroughly washing hands, appropriately covering your mouth when coughing and sneezing, avoiding close contact to others, and sanitizing commonly used surfaces. Those with cold like symptoms should avoid contact with vulnerable populations, including infants, children under the age of 2, and those with compromised immune systems. There are currently no vaccines available for RSV, but palivizumab is available to prevent severe RSV disease. If your child is at high risk for severe RSV disease or experiencing symptoms talk to your healthcare provider for treatment options.
