Art Appreciation: Portraits

Tuesday, February 28, 10:00-11:00 on Zoom

A portrait is much more than a picture of what someone looks like. A portrait can document the history of a whole family, or a single individual’s journey. It can be about an era of time, a culture, an event, or the experience of youth or age. It can tell stories, be self-revealing or serve as a commentary of social values or political institutions. The museum comes to you in this engaging presentation by Jane Blair, founder of ArtMatters, an art awareness and education organization. Call the COA at 781-786-6280 to register.

Caregiver Support Group

Thursdays, March 2 & 16, 10:00-11:30 at the COA

If you are seeing memory changes in a loved one, this group might help you. Members share stories and wisdom as well as resources and strategies for coping with the challenges of caring for someone at any stage of dementia. These meetings are hosted in-person at the COA with an opportunity to join virtually on Zoom. Contact the COA at 781-786-6280 to receive the Zoom link.

Friday Movie: The Good House

The Good House follows Hildy Good (Sigourney Weaver), a wry New England realtor and descendant of the Salem witches, who loves her wine and her secrets. Her compartmentalized life begins to unravel as she rekindles a romance with her old high-school flame, Frank Getchell (Kevin Kline), and becomes dangerously entwined in one person's reckless behavior. Igniting long-buried emotions and family secrets, Hildy is propelled toward a reckoning with the one person she's been avoiding for decades: herself.
