Adult Programming

DIY: Book Page Flowers Wednesday, January 18th from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. It's cold outside! Come warm up at the library with this fun paper craft! At this event, you will learn how to fold squares of recycled book pages into petals. Use book page paper, wire, and hot glue to create your very own flower. All supplies are included. Registration is required.

Rails to Whistle Stops Sunday, January 22nd from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Join us and local historian Sue DelBianco as she discusses Train stations from Bridgeport to Canaan, Connecticut along the Housatonic Railroad route, from inception to the present. Join us! Register here. 

Get a Clue Mystery Book Club Monday, January 23rd from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Join our new mystery book club! We will meet virtually every fourth Monday to discuss the book.  Copies of this month’s pick will be available at the circulation desk. The Yarn Darlings Wednesday, January 25th from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Join our new fiber arts group The Yarn Darlings! We will meet every fourth Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Bring your knitting, crocheting, needle punching, felting, or any other yarn craft to work on while socializing with other crafters. All skill levels are welcome. We can’t wait to see you there. Registration is requested for the group but not required. All skill levels are welcome.

Music History Through Stickers: An Interactive Game Sunday, January 29th from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Like music? Well you're going to love this family-friendly activity that will get you tapping your toes and humming some of your favorites. From jazz greats like Louis Armstrong and Miles Davis to country and folk heroes like Dolly Parton and Johnny Cash, you're going to love “Building Your Own History Book” of Music legends. Panel Picks: YA Book Club Wednesday, January 18th from 5 p.m. to 6:10 p.m. This year, the young adult book club is back and more different than ever! This time, as Panel Picks, each month we will read and discuss the first collected volume of a graphic novel or manga series. If applicable, we will watch the first episode or two of the related series, movie trailers, compare other adaptations, etc as well as discuss the comic itself! This month we are reading STRANGER THINGS VOL. 1: THE OTHER SIDE by Jody Houser. Register here.

Princeton Review Presents: SAT Practice Exam Saturday, January 21st from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Calling all sophomores and juniors! Enroll now for the Princeton Review’s free SAT Practice Test offered through Trumbull Library! Following completion of the test, you will receive a comprehensive score report that indicates areas of strength and weakness. Family ArtSmart Craft Thursday, January 26th from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Join Kathy Vincent of ArtSmart! Studio for an evening of cozy creating! Young artists, together with their ADULT partner, will create an adorable cup of hot cocoa using acrylic paint, collage papers & dimensional accents on canvas board. Too cute! Grades K-2 with an adult. Registration is required. Register once for the entire family. One craft per family.

Paperchain Snowman Craft Saturday, January 28th from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Join us in the Merwin Room for an easy & fun snowman craft. Children will decorate their strips of paper and glue them to create a snowman paperchain/s! Younger/older siblings welcome, but please register each child.

First Tech Challenge: Robotics Competition Presentation Saturday, January 28th from 12 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. Local teen Rahas Sachdeva and his team will be offering an hour long presentation and information session regarding the process they took over the course of this year in developing their robot for the FIRST Tech Challenge. They will go over what the competition is like, how they built their robot, and answer any questions interested students may have on how to a join a team for the 2023-2024 year. Then, at the end, they will present their robot. This presentation is open to all middle and high school students, and their parents. Registration is not required, but you may do so if you would like to receive an email reminder for the event.

Baby Time Tuesday, January 17th from 11 a.m. to 11:20 a.m. Ages birth to 2. Meet in-person at the library for story time! Listen to a story, sing songs, and perform finger plays. Registration is not required.

D & D Club Wednesday, January 25th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Make new friends and take part in exciting adventures! Never played before? No problem! No prior experience with D&D is required and all the materials will be provided. Bring your own character or use one of our pre-made characters. Open to ages 12 and up. Registration is required.
