Adult Programming

Women and Money Roundtable: How to Make Sense of Today's Financial Markets Wednesday, September 14th from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. The Women and Money Roundtable is a monthly financial literacy program designed to educate women of any age about the financial matters that affect their lives. Register for Zoom link.

Do It Yourself: Flower Crown Saturday, September 17th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Create your own fake flower crown during this crafting session. All materials are provided, but patrons are welcome to bring their own fake flowers in to build their crown. This craft is open to adults and patrons under 18 with adult accompaniment. Register here.

Knit Autumn Leaves with the Stitching Coach Saturday, September 17th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Learn to knit an autumn leaf that never fades. Once you learn to make the leaf, you’ll want to make more for a table runner, scarf, wreath and more. Patrons should know how to cast on, bind off and knit, while in class you will conquer decreases and increases with the help of Bristol instructor, Dawn Zillich, The Stitching Coach. Register here.

Sunday Concert Series: Jazz Piano with Mikhail Romanov Sunday, September 18th from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Mikhail Romanov is an acclaimed jazz prodigy of the piano. At age 17, Mikhail was accepted at the prestigious Moscow College of Jazz Art, to study with the esteemed Russian jazz pianist Igor Bril. He graduated in 2007 and continued his studies at the storied Gnessin’s Russian Academy of Music, Russia’s equivalent of Julliard in America. At age 23, Mikhail won the 2009 Grand-Prix in Russia’s prestigious “Piano in Jazz” competition, held annually in Moscow. He has toured internationally, including performances in the United States, Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. Join us!

Phiction Writing with Kim Kovach Thursday, September 22nd from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. A picture is worth 1,000 words. In this new adult Phiction Writing program, participants will be inspired by black and white photographs to write fiction stories. Each week a photograph will inspire story writing from different points of view, suspense, historical fiction, monologues and more in this unique eight-week fiction writing program created by author and writing teacher, Kim Kovach. Registration required. (Zoom)

All CT Reads: This Town Sleeps Monday, September 26th from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. All CT Reads is sponsored by the CT State Library, it is a year-long initiative to promote lifelong reading, learning, and connection. The third of four books we will read over the year, THIS TOWN SLEEPS by Dennis E Staples explores the many ways history, culture, landscape, and lineage shape our lives, our understanding of the world we inhabit, and the stories we tell ourselves to make sense of it all. Registration required.

Children's and Teen Programming

Young Writers Club Monday, September 12th from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. This new club, aimed for grades 4 - 6, will introduce kids to the basics of fiction writing and give them the opportunity to express their creativity. We will meet once a month and examine the fundamentals of what makes up our favorite stories, hone our creativity with fun writing exercises, and share our writing with each other! Limited spaces. Registration required.

YA Book Brigade Thursday, September 15th from 4:15 p.m. to 5 p.m. This is a book club for teens entering grades 6-12. The first 6 teens to register will be guaranteed a copy to check out from the library. Additional registrants are permitted to join but must secure their own copy of the book. This month's book is: The Chosen by Taran Matharu.

Family Book Cover Bingo Thursday, September 15th from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Join us for a fun game of Book Cover Bingo at the library. You'll be looking for book covers instead of numbers and letters. You'll also hear about the library's newest children's books. Small prizes awarded to winners. This is an all-ages family program. Registration is required.

Craft Night: Talk Like a Pirate Day Monday, September 19th from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Did you know today is International Talk Like a Pirate Day? Arrgh, me matey, it is! Let's celebrate with an evening of fun, pirate-themed crafts. Ages 3-6. Registration is required.

Do It Yourself: Painted Terracotta Pots Wednesday, September 21st from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Join us for a relaxing afternoon of painting! Paint a terracotta pot to use at home or gift to a friend. All supplies are included. Adults only, under 18 with adult accompaniment. Register here.

Toddler Time for 2s and 3s Monday, September 12th from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Join Ms. Chelsie in person for great stories, songs, and dances.
