Free Tai Chi Class at Vineland Public Library

Sometimes referred to as “moving meditation,” Tai Chi (pronounced Tie-Chee) uses slow, deliberate movements to benefit health and balance. A free Tai Chi class is being held on Friday, January 19 from 11:00 – 11:45 a.m., in the Community Event Room of the Vineland Public Library. Taught by Morris Siegel, a member of the Yang Family Tai Chi Association and the United Fellowship of Martial Artists International, this class is designed for seniors but open to all adults ages 18 and over.  Class size is limited, and registration is required. Participants must also fill out a waiver to join the class. Call (856) 794-4244 ext. 4243 to reserve your spot today! The Vineland Public Library is located at 1058 E. Landis Avenue. This program is funded by the Friends of Vineland Public Library.

Afternoon Tea and Coloring at Vineland Public Library

Join Vineland Public Library, 1058 E. Landis Avenue, for a relaxing afternoon of tea and coloring. Coloring is not just for kids anymore! Studies have shown that coloring helps adults de-stress, generates wellness, and stimulates brain areas related to motor skills and creativity. This event will be held on Tuesday, January 9, from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. in the library’s Community Event Room, located on the first floor. Tea, coffee, and supplies will be provided. This free program is sponsored by the Friends of the Vineland Public Library. Registration is required. To register, please call the Adult Services Department at 856-794-4244 ext. 4243.

Chapter 1 Book Club for Popular BookTok Reads at Vineland Public Library

Join the Vineland Public Library, 1058 E. Landis Avenue, for the Chapter 1 Book Club with a discussion of The Reading List by Sara Nisha Adams!


This free book club is for adults ages 18 and older and will take place in the library’s Community Event Room on Tuesday, January 2, from 6:00-7:00 pm. For help in obtaining a copy of the book and to register, stop in or call (856) 794-4244, ext. 4243. Be sure to say you want the book for the Chapter 1 Book Club. Books will be available at the Information Desk three weeks before the scheduled meeting. They are due on the day of the meeting so no fines accrue.

Cozy Mystery Book Club at Vineland Public Library!

Called cozies for short, cozy mysteries are a sub-genre of crime and mystery books that are lighter on the violence and sexual content. If you’re a fan of cozies, we’d love to have you join the Vineland Public Library’s Cozy Mystery Book Club. Often there is a special treat served in theme with the reading selection. In the 1st floor Community Event Room, on Monday, January 22, from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m., the group will be discussing Meet Your Baker by Ellie Alexander. For help in obtaining a copy of this book, and to register, please visit the Information Desk or call (856) 794-4244, ext. 4243. Please be sure to say your request is for the Cozy Mystery Book Club. Join the Vineland Public Library’s Evening Adult Book Club! The January meeting is Monday, January 8, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. in the Community Event Room with a discussion of Genesis Code by John Case. Going Graphic: Comic Book and Graphic Novel Book Club at  Vineland Public Library

Join the Vineland Public Library, 1058 E. Landis Avenue, for the Going Graphic Book Club with a discussion of the graphic novel Fruits Basket Volume 1 by Natsuki Takaya!  This free book club is for anyone 14 and older who consider themselves graphic novel newcomers, manga maniacs, and comic aficionados wanting to explore familiar and new genres of comic books, manga, and everything in between. The January meeting will take place in the library’s Community Event Room on Wednesday, January 17, from 5:30-6:30 pm. For help in obtaining a copy of the book and to register, stop in or call (856) 794-4244, ext. 4243. Be sure to say you want the book for the Going Graphic Book Club. Books will be available at the Information Desk three weeks before the scheduled meeting. They are due on the day of the meeting so no fines accrue. Please note some titles will only be available via Hoopla digital library.

Vineland Public Library January 2024 Holiday Hours

The Vineland Public Library, 1058 E. Landis Avenue, announces the following hours in January:

 - Monday, January 1, 2024: The library will be closed in observance of New Year’s Day.
 - Monday, January 15, 2024: The library will be open 9:00 – 5:00 p.m. in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

In the Skies: A Fantasy Book Club for Adult Readers at Vineland Public Library

Join the Vineland Public Library, 1058 E. Landis Avenue, for the In the Skies Book Club with a discussion of Daughter of the Moon Goddess by Sue Lynn Tan!

This free book club is for adults ages 18 and older who are interested in lighter fantasy fiction. The January meeting will take place in the library’s Teen Room on Thursday, January 11, from 5:30-6:30 pm. PRAC of Southern New Jersey Hosts Senior Strength, Balance and Stability Class at Vineland Public Library

During the month of January, P.R.A.C. of Southern New Jersey will host free senior strength, balance and stability classes at the Vineland Public Library, located at 1058 E. Landis Avenue. Part of SAIL, Stay Active and Independent for Life, these classes will help participants build strength, improve balance, and stay active. Experienced, skilled instructors will provide exercises that have been tested with older adults, and the program will also help participants meet new people and make great friends!

This free service will take place in the library’s Community Event Room, located on the first floor, every Tuesday, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Registration is required. For more information and to register, please contact P.R.A.C. of Southern New Jersey at 856-213-6693. This program is funded by Title III of the Older Americans Act & the Cumberland County Office on Aging and Disabled.

Social Worker at Vineland Public Library

In partnership with the Vineland Health Department, Social Worker Flor Cruz, MSW, will be available at the library every Tuesday and Friday from 9:00 – 1:00 p.m. Ms. Cruz will provide free, one-on-one assistance with job searching and more.

Appointments are not required to meet with Ms. Cruz, walk-ins are encouraged. If you would like to schedule an appointment for a different day, please call 856-794-4000 ext. 4954 or email Ms. Cruz at [email protected]. The library is located at 1058 E. Landis Avenue.

Supportive Services for Veteran Families at Vineland Public Library

America, home of the free because of the Brave…No Veteran should be without a place to call home. Veteran homelessness is a reality, for now. There is help. Let’s explore more….

Supportive Services for Veterans and Families will be available at the Vineland Public Library, 1058 E. Landis Avenue, on Tuesday, January 9 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Attendees will learn about the valuable resources available to veterans and their families. Registration is not required. Walk-ins welcome! This program will take place in the Public Office, located on the second floor of the library.

If you can’t make the in-person meeting, please call Susan Stephens at 856-701-4746 or email [email protected]. Susan is the Senior Case Manager at Catholic Charities in the SSVF Program. Their mission is to end veteran homelessness with a federally funded program from the VA (SSVF – Supportive Services for Veteran Families), and, connect the Veteran with resources and benefits.
