Chapter 1: A Book Club for Avid Adult Readers at Vineland Public Library

Join the Vineland Public Library, 1058 E. Landis Avenue, for the Chapter 1 Book Club with a discussion of Seven Days in June by Tia Williams!

This free book club is for adults ages 18 and older and will take place in the library’s Community Event Room on Tuesday, June 6, from 6:00-7:00 pm. For help in obtaining a copy of the book and to register, stop in or call (856) 794-4244, ext. 4243. Be sure to say you want the book for the Chapter 1 Book Club. Books will be available at the Information Desk three weeks before the scheduled meeting. They are due on the day of the meeting so no fines accrue.

The Vineland Public Library, 1058 E. Landis Avenue, announces the following hours in June:
- Monday, June 19, 2023- The library will be closed in observance of Juneteenth.

In the Skies: A Cozy Fantasy Book Club for Adult Readers at Vineland Public Library

Join the Vineland Public Library, 1058 E. Landis Avenue, for the In the Skies Book Club with a discussion of The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna!

This free book club is for adults ages 18 and older who are interested in lighter fantasy fiction. The first meeting will take place in the library’s Teen Room on Thursday, June 8, from 5:30-6:30 pm. For help in obtaining a copy of the book and to register, stop in or call (856) 794-4244, ext. 4243. Be sure to say you want the book for the In the Skies Book Club. Writers Society Gathering

If you have an interest in writing, join the New Jersey Writers Society gathering at Vineland Public Library, 1058 E. Lands Avenue, on Thursday, June 15 from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. There will be in-depth discussion and writing critiques. The meeting will be held in the Community Event Room on the 1st floor. Author Signing

Be sure to register for Vineland Public Library's “How to Hunt the Jersey Devil” program with guest speaker and author of The Pineys, Tony DiGerolamo!

Join Mr. DiGerolamo for a discussion of the Jersey Devil and South Jersey Folklore like no other! Witches, monsters, ghosts and other supernatural characters abound in the Pine Barrens so the Jersey Devil is not so alone! Learn about the fascinating history and tall tales of your community and practical steps to avoid being eaten by Mother Leeds’ 13th Child. Mr. DiGerolamo is a New Jersey screenwriter, novelist, comic book writer, game designer and comedian. In addition to his discussion on the Jersey Devil and South Jersey Folklore, Mr. DiGerolamo will also answer questions about book publishing and comic books. Copies of his books will be available for sale.

Book Bingo for Adults

Join Vineland Public Library, 1058 E. Landis Avenue, for free bingo games, light refreshments, fun and a chance to win books and other prizes! Book Bingo will take place on Thursday, June 1 from 6:00-7:00 pm in the library’s Community Event Room, located on the first floor. You will need to bring a device that connects to the internet to play (i.e. cell phone, tablet, laptop).
This program is for adults, ages 18+, and is limited to 20 participants. Registration is required. Call 856-794-4244 ext. 4243 to register. This free event is sponsored by the Friends of the Vineland Public Library.

Cozy Myster Book Discussion

Called cozies for short, cozy mysteries are a sub-genre of crime and mystery books that are lighter on the violence and sexual content. If you’re a fan of cozies, we’d love to have you join the Vineland Public Library’s Cozy Mystery Book Club. Often there is a special treat served in theme with the reading selection. In the 1st floor Community Event Room, on Monday, June 5, from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m., the group will be discussing Murder She Knit by Peggy Ehrhart with a special visit from the author! Ms. Ehrhart will be at the June meeting with copies of her books available for sale, cash only. For help in obtaining a copy of this book, and to register, please visit the Information Desk or call (856) 794-4244, ext. 4243. Please be sure to say your request is for the Cozy Mystery Book Club. Evening Adult Book Club

The June meeting is Monday, June 5, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. in the Doris Tripp Memorial Room with a discussion of Hum if You Don’t Know the Words by Bianca Marais. Evening Tea and Coloring

Join Vineland Public Library, 1058 E. Landis Avenue, for a relaxing evening of tea and coloring. Coloring is not just for kids anymore! Studies have shown that coloring helps adults de-stress, generates wellness, and stimulates brain areas related to motor skills and creativity. This event will be held on Monday, June 26, from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. in the library’s Community Event Room, located on the first floor. Tea, coffee, and supplies will be provided. This free program is sponsored by the Friends of the Vineland Public Library. Registration is required. To register, please call the Adult Services Department at 856-794-4244 ext. 4243.

Office on Aging
During the month of June, the Cumberland County Office on Aging and Disability Services will provide assistance at the Vineland Public Library, located at 1058 E. Landis Avenue.  Staff from the Office on Aging and Disability Services will be on hand to perform intakes and assist seniors.
This free service will take place in the Public Office, located on the second floor of the library, from 9:30 – 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. every Wednesday and Thursday. Registration is not required. Additional dates will be announced.

PRAC Senior Strength, Balance and Stability Class
During the month of June, P.R.A.C. of Southern New Jersey will host free senior strength, balance and stability classes at the Vineland Public Library, located at 1058 E. Landis Avenue. Part of SAIL, Stay Active and Independent for Life, these classes will help participants build strength, improve balance, and stay active. Experienced, skilled instructors will provide exercises that have been tested with older adults, and the program will also help participants meet new people and make great friends!

This free service will take place in the library’s Community Event Room, located on the first floor, every Tuesday, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Registration is required. For more information and to register, please contact P.R.A.C. of Southern New Jersey at 856-213-6693. This program is funded by Title III of the Older Americans Act & the Cumberland County Office on Aging and Disabled.

Summer Saturday Hours

The Vineland Public Library, 1058 E. Landis Avenue, will be closed Saturdays beginning June 3, 2023 through September 2, 2023.
