August at Wave Hill

As the heat and humidity persist, plants and gardeners alike can start to languish in the August haze; but at Wave Hill, our gardens continue to thrive, as do our extraordinary gardeners and interns—fiercely working to weed, edge, prune hedges and deadhead repeat bloomers in order to keep our show vibrant. When you visit this month, do not miss our Aquatic and Monocot Gardens. Alight with color and texture, this transportive space currently features the impressive, spiny leaves of Victoria amazonica. The giant waterlily has several unfurled platters occupying the center of our pond and the growing flower bud has just broken the surface.

A very warm welcome to our new President and Executive Director, Ray Oladapo-Johnson, who is now officially on board—just in time for the busy month of August.
