Government and Politics

July 2, 2024

Charleston, WV — Governor Jim Justice announced the fiscal year-end report on July 1st, including exciting news that the annual revenue surplus will trigger another reduction in personal income tax rates. State revenue collections exceeded estimates by over $800 million this year, which enables an additional 4% personal income tax cut. West Virginia Republican Party (WVGOP) Chairman Matt Herridge released the following statement on this historic achievement:

“It is always a victory when West Virginians are able to keep more of their hard-earned money, and under the leadership of Governor Justice and Republican leaders and legislators in the House and Senate, we are seeing victory after victory. In addition to the historic tax cuts we’ve seen over the last two years, revenue estimates indicate those cuts will continue, and additional cuts will be pursued this fall. I applaud our Republican supermajorities at the State Capitol for effectuating this important tax relief, and I am grateful to Governor Justice for his bold vision and leadership in continuing to implement policy to make West Virginia the best place to live, work, and raise a family!”

Of note: To date, Gov. Justice and the West Virginia Legislature have delivered over $1 billion in tax cuts to the people of West Virginia.
