Victims of domestic violence have come to A Safe Place/Lake County Crisis Center since 1980. A Safe Place is a multi-faceted organization committed to becoming a model for the prevention of domestic violence through empowerment and counseling, intervention and education, research and collaboration with the community.

A Safe Place provides emergency shelter; affordable transitional housing;a 24-hour help line 847-249-4450, TTY 847-249-6557, 800-600-SAFE; court and non-legal advocacy; individual, group, and children's counseling; batterer intervention services; and community outreach, prevention education, and professional training.
