Adventist Community Services exists to help, as far as possible, the underprivileged and underserved of Licking County, Ohio. Necessities including food and clothing, as well as linens for the kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom are given away free of charge. Non-necessities are sold at bargain-basement prices in the Thrift Shop, all proceeds from which are used to support the operations of Adventist Community Services.
It is our desire to be a light in the community to help people enhance their lives and learn about Jesus. We aim to present a pleasant, peaceful, comfortable atmosphere so people will enjoy coming here. We attempt to track job postings in the community as well as health and family issues and we supply clients with information connecting them to other sources of help. We want people to know we can help with more than just their occasional physical needs and we will make every reasonable attempt to help them find whatever we cannot supply.
We are a caring center and work closely with other agencies to give every person the best chance to receive the help needed. The layout of our facility provides clients with some privacy and anonymity in that they enter and exit through the Thrift Shop, which is open to the public. They also maintain their dignity in their ability to purchase the low-priced items in the Thrift Shop. Several who are qualified volunteer with us and several others donate goods to us. We are partners with the community.
