About Us:
The Airfield Shooting Club is a new shooting sports organization supporting rifle, pistol and clay target sports in southeastern Virginia. Founded in 2005, we are growing a vibrant community of shooters. If you enjoy the company and camaraderie of fellow shooters devoted to the preservation and expansion of the shooting sports in our area, we are the club for you. We have a strong emphasis on safety, education and training, public service and fun. We shoot at the Airfield 4H center in Wakefield Virginia, centrally located near highway 460, We are one hour or less from the greater Tidewater and Richmond metro areas.
We share the range facility with the Airfield 4H center. The Center's primary use of the facility is for 4H summer camp, district 4H shooting competitions and instructor education. On most summer weekday mornings, the range will be closed to shooting club members. Other occasional closures at various times during the year are posted in our calendar section. Excluding these closures, our regular hours are sunrise to sunset seven days a week.
Our gun club features both 50 and 100 meter covered outdoor ranges. We are currently operating a skeet range and are planning an expansion to include a trap range. Our skeet range features an automated target counting system with an optional delay release. You can shoot skeet even if you are alone.
We schedule friendly competitions on the range including our very popular Pungo Posse Cowboy Action shoots and our wildly successful Bowling Pin matches. See our competition section of the site for details on these matches, which are open to the public. Other than these matches, the club is open to members and their escorted guests only.
Our membership tab on this web site has full details as well as a downloadable application. If you have any questions about joining our gun club, email us. We would be delighted to meet you out at the range and show you around.
