Anthony Drive Baptist Church was formed as a mission of First Baptist Church of Ennis on August 14, 1955. Rev. R. P. Campbell was the pastor at First Baptist at that time. Rev. Herman Littlejohn was selected as the first pastor of Anthony Drive. Land for a building was donated by the V. L. Anthony family. The property is located one block southwest of Ennis Regional Medical Center at the intersection of Anthony Drive, West Burnett and South Carlton Streets.
The original parsonage, located on the corner of West Burnett and South Carlton Street is now the Church Office. A new brick parsonage was built at 805 Anthony Drive in the 1960s. A few years ago, the church purchased property on Fincher Street that is presently used as the Youth Complex. A new Sanctuary that seats over 400 was built in 1986 with the old Sanctuary being converted into a Fellowship Hall. Attic space above the original sanctuary was converted into classrooms and storage space. In 1992, the office complex was expanded to provide more Sunday School classrooms.
