Overview
Bellaire Elementary was built in 1960. The school is located in the southeast section of the city of Hurst, which is a suburb of the cities of Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas. Bellaire Elementary has a current enrollment of over 600 children in grades PreK-6. The faculty includes over 75 teachers, assistants and auxiliary personnel.
There are various opportunities for the diverse population of Bellaire students to become successful learners. A variety of programs are offered such as Core Knowledge, Gifted/Talented, ESL/Bilingual, Special Education, Speech, Music, Art, Physical Education, library instruction, technology, character education and Suzuki Strings. In addition to these programs, there are opportunities for students to receive intervention during class and after school.
Bellaire’s mascot is the Whirlybird and originated from the unique partnership the school has with the famous Bell Helicopter/Textron Corporation. The main manufacturing plant of the company is located less than a mile south of the Bellaire campus. Whirlybird is the nickname for the helicopter, and the school is proud to have its association with the company.
