History
Lions International is the largest service organization in the world. Our Belton Lions Club was established in 1938, in the midst of the depression, to help children and better the quality of life in Belton, Texas. We currently have around 60 members. Belton Lions have always been the leaders in civic service in this community. The main focus of our service is to the youth of Belton.

The primary traditions of this club are service and fun. Our real purpose will always be service to the youth of our community. In order to do that, we raise money and try to spend it wisely. We also have fun while we serve. Belton Lions meetings are notorious for some past shenanigans. Today's meetings, while somewhat more restrained, follow in that tradition. The Lion Tail Twister is responsible for keeping our meetings lively each week. Some traditions, such as plate spinning, are purely for fun.

One very serious tradition is the Halley Cox Memorial Scholarship. Halley "Coach" Cox was a long time member of the Lions Club and a great supporter of Belton kids in all areas. Whenever Belton students were performing, or in need, Coach Cox was there to support them. The winner of the 2006 scholarship was Belton High School senior, Brandon Jarrett.

We are also very proud of our long tradition of providing eyeglasses to needy Belton youngsters. Hundreds of Belton students have benefited from this program over the years.
