History:
Formally incorporated on May 25, 1905, the town gets its present name from an early settler and French trader who acted as a frontier diplomat during the troubled times of the French and Indian Wars. Originally "Le Moyen", the words translate literally as "the go between" or "the mediator". Apparently, the town fathers knew what they were doing when they renamed Lemoyne, because the community has become a focal point, or go between, in the transportation of people, goods, and service between Harrisburg and the sprawling West Shore. Lemoyne Borough is located within Cumberland County, and is situated along the Susquehanna River with two bridges leading into the Borough from the Capital of the State of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg.

Geographically speaking, Lemoyne encompasses 2.3 square miles, and has a population of approximately 3,959. Lemoyne Borough has four recreational parks, a community swimming pool, as well as several community tennis courts. The Borough also contains two historical sites, Fort Couch and Fort Washington. The Lemoyne Borough has 2 schools within its boundaries, Washington Heights Elementary School and Lemoyne Middle School. The Borough of Lemoyne has seven Council Members, a Mayor and a Manager.

In 1995 the Borough of Lemoyne and our community next door, Wormleysburg Borough, formed a Regional Police Department named West Shore Regional Police Department. In 1999 the fire companies serving the Borough of Lemoyne and Wormleysburg formed a partnership named West Shore Bureau of Fire. Lemoyne Borough has a Wastewater Treatment Plant that serves the Lemoyne, Wormleysburg and Camp Hill Borough communities. Serving a total population of approximately 14, 537. This facility processes approximately 493,115,000 gallons of sewage and processes approximately 3,650 tons of biosolids annually.

Economically speaking the Borough has many industrial and commercial businesses such as the 900,000 square foot Lemoyne Industrial Park factories such as Lemoyne Sleeper and Kesslers Meat Products. The Borough offers diversity with regards to restaurants, shopping and recreation.
